2022 Hyundai Kona N Series
N Spec Subcompact Crossover
The subcompact crossover on Hyundai’s N line – the Kona N. The engineers of the division have previously worked their magic on the Veloster hatchback, and the outcome wowed everyone with its turbocharged four-cylinder, rigid suspension, and snappy handling—all of which are now present in the bigger, roomier Kona N. On the outside, the car has all the customary sporting features: a blacked-out grille, a hood with creases and holes, big air intakes, simple and streamlined light signatures, N emblems, low-profile tires, a dual exhaust, and red pinstripe down the bottom margins of the spoiler, side skirts, and diffuser. The perforated steering wheel has a red button within that begs to be pressed. The 276-hp fleet is increased to 286 for 20 seconds when the overboost mode is used. Additional N emblems, suede-like seat covers, and Performance Blue embellishments complete the set.

N Performance
The identical turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that powers the sportiest Veloster is housed behind the aggressively styled, well-vented front of the Kona N. It produces 276 horses in typical circumstances, but if you click the red button on the steering wheel, you may summon an additional ten horses for a 20-second period. The crossover lacks the manual transmission found in its smaller sister. The single transmission used is an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic that exclusively sends power to the front wheels. This transmission is smooth, responsive, and fast, allowing you to make the most of the N package.
There is also a big red button on the steering wheel that is simply marked NGS, which stands for N Grin Shift, if you like fast satisfaction. This option, which is accessible regardless of driving mode, offers 20 seconds of overboost and an increase of 10 horsepower over the turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-standard four's 276 horsepower.
Enjoy throwing the Kona N into sharp corners with ease as the stiffer chassis and spritely engine blasts you out of turns, especially with the overboost function.
The EPA predicts that the Kona N will achieve 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.
Infotainment & Safety Features
A touchscreen infotainment system with shortcut buttons that make it quick to navigate between popular menus is mounted above the Kona's dashboard. The system is simple to use and intuitive. Customers may upgrade to a 10.3-inch touchscreen if they prefer a bigger screen than the original 8.0-inch touchscreen. Driving instructions are also available on the optional head-up display, which swings up from the dashboard and displays the vehicle's speed and other data. Other infotainment and driver-assistance features include:
- Apple CarPlay
- Android Auto
- Lap timer
- G-Forge Meter
- 10.15” Digital Instrument Cluster
- Launch Control
- Customizable Drive Modes
- N Grin Shift
- N Power Shift
- Hyundai Digital Key
- Full Suite of Hyundai SmartSense Features
Spacious Interior
Hyundai's designers succeeded in balancing comfort and convenience with the challenging challenge of conveying the appeal of the Kona's outward design to the inside. In keeping with the Kona N's stylish and sporty exterior, high-quality materials, superior ergonomics, and soft seating give the impression of being sophisticated and grown-up. The steering wheel has integrated controls for the cruise control and audio settings and is covered in finely-grained leather with contrast stitching. The Kona N's cargo room is ideal for those upgrading from a small hatchback or sedan. You do not lose any interior space by upgrading from the standard edition Kona.
