What’s New for the 2017 Hyundai Tucson?
The stylish 2017 Hyundai Tucson has established itself as one of the most refined small crossovers. For the new model year, it adds more of the technology that drivers want. For those who need a truly modern ride, this SUV fits the bill perfectly. Two smart engine choices allow commuters to spend less time at the gas pump and keep more money in their pocket. A four-cylinder engine kicks it in high gear with 164 horses under the hood. It earns 30 mpg highway. With the turbo, you get a 175-horsepower engine. This smart powertrain kicks out 195 lb.-ft. of torque for quick acceleration. Fuel economy increases to a remarkable 26 mpg city and 32 mpg highway. Tucsons come in six editions. The base SE has adjustable front seats with reclining rear seats. The five-inch touchscreen comes with Bluetooth connectivity, a USB port and a rearview camera. With the popular package, shoppers can pick up a power driver’s seat. The Eco is much the same, but it adds the turbo engine. The popular Sport adds a hands-free power liftgate and other conveniences. The front seats can be power-heated. Drivers can enter and start the crossover with the key in their pocket or purse. Interior accents have been upgraded with more soft touches and higher quality materials.
For 2017, a new Night trim dresses up in black wheels, matte black side sills, and other black exterior accents. Inside, you’ll find a perforated leather sport steering wheel and aluminum sport pedals. Families will love the panoramic sunroof. The SE Plus and Limited offer two different engines, but they pile on a long list of amenities. These are the leather editions with dual-zone programmable thermostats for your comfort. An eight-way power passenger seat is another upgrade with this edition. On the dash, an eight-inch touchscreen brings you Blue Link telematics. Smartphone integration is multiplied exponentially by Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, two new 2017 features. The navigation system is also on board to help you find your way across town or across the country. Unlike some SUVs, the 2017 Tucson earned all five stars in the crash testing by National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Hyundai makes crash avoidance features available as well. From the SE forward, all trims have a rearview camera. The SE Plus adds a blind spot monitor. The ultimate package adds a forward emergency warning and a related autobrake. This feature also responds to a pedestrian warning system. The Hyundai autobrake received a superior rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, which has declared the Tucson as one of its Top Safety Pick Plus designees. If the crossover strays from its lane, a warning system can alert the driver and even assist with straightening the SUV’s trajectory. For after-crash safety, BlueLink adds crash emergency notification. This smart system also lets you set parameters for teenage drivers. It also includes stolen car recovery tech. With a smartphone, you can use the carfinder feature to locate your Tucson in a big parking lot. It also lets you start the vehicle remotely.
